Margaret “Maggie” Ann (Morrow) Boe, age 82, of LeRoy, MN crossed over to the other side, very peacefully with family on each side of her, on Thursday, June 18, 2020.
Maggie was born in Lyle, MN to Edwin and Dorothy (Salisbury) Newkirk on May 14, 1938. Maggie was the oldest of 5 kids and grew up in the Lyle area. Maggie attended Elkton High School and graduated in 1956. After graduation, Maggie married Dennis Morrow in May of 1957. They resided in Rochester and had 6 children together. Unfortunately, Dennis passed away in 1975.
Besides raising her 5 living children, Maggie worked at Bethany Samaritan Nursing Home and IBM. Maggie then moved to Grand Meadow. One evening while in Taopi, MN, she met her next husband, Harlan Boe. They then married in December of 1982 and resided on the Boe Farm just outside of LeRoy, MN. Maggie enjoyed the farm and could throw hay bales with the best of them. Harlan passed away in April of 2011. Maggie remained on the farm until her passing.
Maggie’s door was always open to family and friends. She always had a friendly smile, cup of coffee, or a cold beverage with a cookie or a bar. Maggie’s generous heart and excellent cooking will be missed by many.
Maggie is survived by her children Barbara (Jerry Knapp) Morrow of Rochester, MN, Darin (Jill) Morrow of Ostrander, MN, Jeff (Jody) Morrow of Chester, IA, Donald (Tammy) Morrow of Harmony, MN, Barbara Huus of Rochester, MN, Joanne (Robert) Rowe of Albert Lea, MN, and Kathy (Don) Adams of LeRoy, MN, 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, sisters Pat Leonard of Adams, MN and Sharon (Arthur) Osmundson of Adams, MN, and 1 aunt Angeline Overland of Lake Mills, IA.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Dennis Morrow, son Rodney, daughter Dennise, her mom and dad, brothers Roger and Ronald Newkirk, and second husband Harlan Boe.
Funeral services for Maggie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at LeRoy Lutheran Church with Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 22 at LeRoy Lutheran Church. Due to COVID-19, masks are highly recommended. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
