It's always good to see when local organizations come together to give back to their communities.

This past weekend's Take a Kid Fishing Day and the upcoming Spring Fling that benefits the Mower County Humane Society are two events that help bring civic pride to Austin citizens.

Summertime is an opportunity for many of us to get away and do things we don't get to partake in during the warm summer months. That's why it's even more impressive that numerous volunteers pitch in to help out either those who may not be as fortunate, or to help boost an organization that needs continued support.

We take great pride in seeing such events, and even more so knowing that local residents are giving back to their community.
