Breitbarth is in the middle of the pack at state golf meet

Southland senior Matt Breitbarth had a good start at the Class ‘A’ state golf meet, but couldn’t keep pace as he ended the first day of the meet tied for 53rd place out of 87 golfers at Pebble Creek in Becker, Minn. Wednesday.

Breitbarth shot a 40 on the front-nine but fell to a 49 in the back-nine to finish with an 89 for the day.

Faribault Bethlehem Academy’s Aaron Forgaard and BEST’s Sam Eisenhuth tied for the lead in the field on day one with a 73.

The Class ‘A’ meet will finish up Thursday with another 18 holes of golf.
