Herald seeking history-related photographs
Published 12:00 am Thursday, May 15, 2003
The Austin Daily Herald wants your nostalgia -- specifically, if it's on a photograph.
The Herald is looking for any photos taken before 1980 of specific landmarks or during certain events that occurred in or near Austin.
The photographs will be used to help promote the newspaper's weekly "Our History" feature, which spotlights a certain landmark or period event with a brief notation about the photography, said Herald Classified Manager Becky Gray.
"We believe our readers have come to appreciate the Our History photos we have been running and are eager to see this series continue," Gray said. "We encourage area residents to share with us their photographic memories, so we in turn can share them with our readers."
Gray said the photos should be in generally good condition and a short explanation should accompany each photograph.
Those who would like to submit photographs for publication can stop by the Herald offices at 310 Second St. NE and ask for Gray, or call her at 434-2227.
Photos also can be mailed to the newspaper at the above address in care of Becky Gray. Only those photos with self-addressed stamped envelopes will be returned.
