Helen E. Nelson, 97, of Alden, was born into eternal life Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate and burial will take place in Alden Cemetery, Alden Township. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting with arrangements.

Nelson

Helen was born Jan. 30, 1914, in Elmore, to John and Sophia Kliendl. She grew up in the Blue Earth area and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1932 and Normal Teacher Training in 1933. She taught country school until she married. On June 1, 1935, she married Chester Nelson in Blue Earth. Alden was her home for 66 years, and for the past seven years she has lived at Bancroft Estates in Albert Lea. She raised mink along with Chester. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden.

She was a loving mother and grandmother to son, Larry C. and wife Jean Nelson, Albert Lea; two daughters: Bonnie Hribar and special friend Victor Warnement, of Max and Paulette and husband, Roger Sorensen, of Menomonie, Wis.; six grandchildren: Jeffrey (Lynn) Hribar, of Zimmerman, Kimberley Hanson and friend John McGrew, of Woodbury; Michelle Hribar, of Minnetonka, Matthew Hribar, of Cullowhee, N.C., Scott (Vicki) Sorensen, of Carver and Stacy (Keith) Mortensen, of Mankato; eight great-grandchildren: Jason and Danelle Hanson, Mitch and Zach Hribar, Taylor and Luke Mortensen and Riley and Ryan Sorensen; one great-great-granddaughter, Bianca Hanson; one sister, Delores Hillmer; one brother-in-law, Milburn β€œMel” (Phyllis) Nelson, of Albert Lea; one sister-in-law, Erma Nelson, of Conger; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester W. Nelson; parents, John and Sophia Kliendl; brothers: Harold and Darvin; sisters: Dorothy, Rosela and Elaine.
