McNeilus Trucking and Manufacturing Company of Dodge Center is recruiting workers for its new Dexter plant.
Ray Tucker, 2nd District county commissioner, showed the Mower County Commissioners examples of the advertisements.
They seek applicants for entry-level positions paying $12 to $15 with a wide range of benefits. Specific mention is made for hiring of "women and minorities" in the advertisements appearing in area newspapers.
Mower County is assisting the Dodge Center-based company by loaning money to the Development Corporation of Austin for the new plant under construction near the Interstate 90 and Minnesota Highway 16 intersection near Dexter.
The city of Dexter is extending water and other services to the site, which is a Tax Increment Financing district created by the community years ago. Also, the city of Dexter is constructing a new water tower to serve the industry.
In other action, the county commissioners:
n Heard Daryl Franklin, county planner and zoning administrator, announced tentative date of June 4 for tour of Mower County with state officials to inspect geological atlas findings.
n Took under advisement a request from the Mower County auditor, treasurer, recorder and assessor offices to consider purchasing public terminal to expedite research for real estate and other property transactions. The digitized parcel base map information is also sought by local realtors and appraisers, who say Freeborn and Olmsted counties already are making good use of the service.
n Approved an agreement with the Mower County Townships' Association to accept $2,000 to allow well testing program to continue.
n Approved agreement concerning the cleanup of the so-called "Ellsworth" property at the site of the Mower County recycling center to remove hazardous materials found in the ground.
