Update: Heat to hold sway through Thursday

The heat currently flowing over the area has at least two more days of excessive heat in store.

The area remains under an excessive heat warning through 8 p.m. Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Services, temperatures are expected to stay high across the area with temperatures pushing into high 80s and up to triple digits. Heat indexes could climb as high as 112 degrees. Wednesday’s high is predicted at 101.

Along with the heat comes humidity, compounding the situation.

People are asked to reschedule, if possible, strenuous activities to early mornings or the evening with plenty of rest breaks in shaded areas or air conditioning.

People should also drink plenty of fluids.

Temps will remain at close to 90 on Friday, but then are expected to abate some into the weekend with highs in the high 70s expected under party sunny and mostly sunny skies respectively.
