Karan Jeanette Prantner was born June 2, 1944, in Austin, Minnesota, to Edward and Barbara (Hartley) Prantner. She grew up on a farm north of Myrtle and attended country school. Karan began her work life in bookkeeping working for Wilsons in Albert Lea and then worked as a Paraprofessional at Dover Eyota High School as a media center specialist. In 2005, the couple settled in Blooming Prairie where Karan was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, WELCA, and a volunteer at the Blooming Prairie Elementary School. Karan was a woman of many passions. She always wanted her children to experience things she never could. Karan enjoyed the kid’s activities, neighboring, card clubs, sewing hardanger embroidery, and quiet time. She was a devoted Minnesota Twins Fan, who liked to travel and enjoyed the beauty of nature. Her love for quilting and reading brought her great joy, and she cherished her Bohemian and Norwegian heritage. One of her favorite pastimes was when she showed cattle at the county fair in 4-H. Karan had a remarkable sense of family and dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she adored unconditionally.
