Andrew K. Anhorn, 89

Andrew K. Anhorn, age 89, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away, Wednesday, November 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Andrew was born July 12, 1934, in Austin, Minnesota, to Andrew and Marie (Risdall) Anhorn. He graduated with the class of 1952 from Austin High School and went on to attend Austin Community College. On October 20, 1953, he enlisted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge on August 17, 1955. Throughout the years, Andrew owned and operated various businesses in Austin, including The 76 Station, a liquor store, and a car dealership. However, one of his greatest passions was his ownership of a resort on Greenwood Lake, near Grand Marais, Minnesota. His cabin on Greenwood Lake brought him great joy and fond memories. During the winters, Andrew committed to keeping the lines and roads near the resort open. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to visit family. To his nieces and nephews, Andrew was more than just an uncle – he was a second father. He was never one to miss a milestone event, he made it a point to attend every wedding. Andrew was known for his quick wit and sly sense of humor. His generous nature touched the lives of those around him, as he selflessly offered a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sisters, Lorene Thompson and Marie Cano; brother-in-law, Jose Cano; nieces and nephews, Debbie Carriere, Jane Hartin, John Hartin, Greg Hartin, Craig Thompson, Carol Weber, Mark Thompson, Scott Thompson, Jeffrey Cano, Andrea Cano Forte, and Matthew Cano; and many great nieces and nephews.
