Alice C. Brennan

Alice Caroline Brennan, age 98, of Austin, died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Legacy of Brownsdale.

Alice was born May 17, 1925 in Austin to Eddie and Inga (Weum) Mithuen. She attended Austin High School and graduated in 1943. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Elam’s Jewelry Store in Austin for ten years and then worked at Austin National Company insurance division of US Bank for thirty years.

Alice was united in marriage to Gene Brennan on May 8, 1945 in Ardmore, Oklahoma where he was stationed at the time. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin where she served a three year term as Church Treasurer, taught Sunday school and ushered for many years. She was also an active member of the 60+ New Life Club through the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Brennan; parents; brother, Irvin T. Mithuen; sister-in-law, Loretta C. Mithuen; nephew, Jerry Mithuen.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Steve (Ruth) Mithuen, Peoria, Arizona, Judy Stern (Robert Suk), Rochester, Minnesota, Robert (Kelly) Mithuen, Austin, Minnesota, Jeffrey (Joann) Brennan, Waseca, Minnesota, John Brennan, South Dakota, Scott (Mary) Brennan, Duluth, Minnesota, Sue Brennan and friend Mark, Minneapolis, Minnesota; great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mark VanHouse officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
