Curtis J. Lewison, 91

Curtis John Lewison, 91, of Adams, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at St. Marks Living in Austin.

Curtis was born on July 26, 1932 to John and Belva (Speer) Lewison. He graduated from Rose Creek High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. Curt married the love of his life, his school sweetheart, Kay Bendtsen on August 9, 1953. They moved to Adams and owned and operated Adams Standard Oil Station with Curt’s dad. Curt worked many jobs after retiring, including Brindon’s in Albert Lea and for the Adams Police Department.

He was a faithful member of the Little Cedar Lutheran Church where he served on the board and cemetery committee. Curt was a proud member of the American Legion and Adams Lions Club. He was so honored to have received the Melvin Jones fellow award and Quilt of Valor.

Curt could fix anything from cars to toys; “if Grandpa can’t fix it, nobody can”! He loved his Jeeps, and was a great mechanic. He enjoyed giving his kids the ride of their lives pulling their toboggan behind his Jeep. His friendly and humorous personality made him a favorite to be around. When you saw Curt, you saw Kay, his true love for 70 wonderful years. There are great memories of him playing with the kid’s Christmas toys before wrapping them while they could hear the train set, crying dolls, and snap guns. There were many fun family trips over the years, as well as Boy Scout camps, and Derbys. He was one of a KIND!

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Belva Lewison; brother-in-law, John Aanonson; and son-in-law, Jeff Dohlman.

Curt is survived by his wife, Kay Lewison; son, Kim Lewison of Adams; son, Cary (Nikoletta) Lewison of Inver Grove Heights, MN; daughter, Renae (Doug) Dohlman of LeRoy, MN; son, Kevin (Jackie) Lewison of North Royalton, Ohio; son, Jeffery Lewison and friend (Chris Johnson) of Mahtomedi, MN; and daughter, Ann (Eric) Brownlow of Kasson, MN; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Michon) Dohlman, Heidi (Jeff) Bouzek, Tasha Lewison, Erik (Danielle) Lewison, Camden Brownlow ( Irma), Kallie Brownlow (James), Devon (Bobby) Gency, Niall Lewison, and Lochlan Lewison; eight great grandchildren, Amelie, Liam, Kahlan, Dax, Cora, Floyd, Rilynn, and Maylee; sister, Beverly Aanonson of Rose Creek; and nieces, Diane (Jerry) Sampson of Lyle and Janice (Craig) Murphy of Austin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 21st at Little Cedar Lutheran Church with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Interment will be in Little Cedar Cemetery with military honors by Adams American Legion Post #146.

The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
