Charles “Charlie” E. Valdahl, 94

Charles “Charlie” Edwin Valdahl, age 94, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa. Charlie was born in Austin, Minnesota, to Arthur and Ethel (Olds) Valdahl on June 15, 1929. He was a 1947 graduate of Austin High School and went on to attend Austin Junior College. From 1949 until 1952, Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army. On May 27, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ardath Bang at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Wendy and Mari. For 42 years, Charlie was employed with Hormel in Austin, where he held various positions, retiring in 1992.

Survivors include his daughters, Wendy (Terry) Voigt of Hackensack, Minnesota and Lakeway, Texas, Mari (Tony) Thies of Iowa Falls, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kelly (Mike) Howard, Kirsten (Jeremy) Frederickson, Jaime (Jeff) Vieth, and Brodie Thies; six great grandchildren, Brycen Vilmain, Kieran Howard, Soren Howard, Raina Howard, Arkyn Howard, Paxton Vieth, Emilia Vieth, and Truett Vieth; and one brother, David (Barb) Valdahl of Osprey, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ethel Valdahl; and his wife, Ardath Valdahl in 2019.

A funeral service for Charlie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
