Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
|
No matter the degree of below zero temperatures we have experienced this week in Austin, duplicate bridge players gathered round the tables at the Mower County Senior Center.
Five tables played on Tuesday, and 11 teams on Wednesday.
Players come from, Albert Lea, Rose Creek, Mason City and Northwood, Iowa, and of course the majority from Austin. Browsing an old issue of ABCL we spotted an article reporting on Dave Ruen, from Mason City, receiving his Life Master’s award. Dave played with our group on Wednesday of this week and we congratulate him for earning this distinguished award and it is worthy of note for all bridge buffs.
So watch below as he showed off his credentials by making the winners list this week.
Tuesday winners were:
First place, Larry Crowe and Bill Momsen
Second place, Barb and Orren Roisen
Third place (tie): Norman Blaser and Mike Leidal and John Leisen and Rick Stroup
Fifth place, Vandy Newman and Ron Peters
Wednesday winners were:
First place, Bonnie Fritz and Lorraine Quinlivan
Second place, Dave Ring and Gail Schmidt
Third place, Carolyne Higgins and Connie Johnson
Fourth place, Dave Ruen and Stan Schultz
Fifth place, Barb and Orrin Roisen
The snow bird is still active as at least two players have declared their absence for two or three months as they head for warmer climates, but for no options to do otherwise, we will continue to play at the usual place, usual time, and always save seats for anyone who would like to play Duplicate Bridge at the Senior Center.
The rules are simple. There is a charge of $2 on Tuesdays and $3 on Wednesdays. All money collected is returned to winners as prize money for winners and supply expenses. For nonmembers of the Center, a $1 fee will be asked.
