Thumbs up for more trout. For the fifth year, Wolf Creek in Austin’s Todd Park has been stocked with trout, ensuring area anglers have another opportunity close to home to fish trout. Temperatures are expected to be beautiful this weekend and we invite people to make use of the trout opener this Saturday and give Wolf Creek a go.
Thumbs up for EAB treatment efforts. On Tuesday night, the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department in Austin held their first informational meeting on treatment options for ash trees in Austin in the face of the emerald ash borer infestation. Austin has a history of being tree friendly and we’re glad to see that the City is working with landowners to at least provide options to mitigate the loss of so many trees.
Thumbs up to RCC service designation. Riverland Community College has acknowledged in recent years a change in student populations at the school, noting its growing Hispanic population. As diversity expands we are happy to see its designation as an Emerging Hispanic Serving Institution.
Thumbs up for the Matchbox Children’s Theatre. The Matchbox Children’s Theatre in Austin has proven over and over again just how important it is to the community, providing stage opportunities for young actors, and it’s proven after this last weekend that their fundraisers can be equally as much fun and entertaining not to mention important for such a worthy organization.
