State Fire Marshal investigating early Thursday fire

The State Fire Marshal’s office was on scene Thursday helping to determine the cause of a blaze that damaged an uninhabited duplex on Third Avenue SE.
According to Fire Chief Jim McCoy, the Austin Fire Department was dispatched to the call at 104 Third Avenue SE at around 4:10 a.m. When firefighters arrived fire and smoke were visible coming from the southeast corner of the structure.
McCoy said the duplex is was uninhabited and that there was no power or gas service to the home. McCoy said damage estimates came to $25,000 on structure and $5,000 for contents.
Brownsdale and Lyle fire departments provided mutual aid.
