The Austin Area Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of Joe Bower as the new president and CEO, effective June 17.
Bower succeeds Elaine Hansen, who is retiring after nearly six years of leadership and service to the Chamber and Austin.
Under Hansen’s leadership, the Chamber has followed a mission to build, promote, and advocate the community through business.
She oversaw the development of the Go! Austin Minnesota App, which enhances the accessibility and engagement of Chamber resources for local businesses and community members. Hansen was also played a part in the success of events, including the Ag Appreciation Cookout, Ladies Night Out, and the AMIGO Day Golf Tournament.
Bower brings plenty of experience to his new role. With 15 years in leadership and management positions at Wells Fargo, combined with his entrepreneurial background and extensive involvement with the Chamber as the chair of the Board of Directors, Bower brings a blend of business and community insight.
Bower expressed his gratitude for Hansen’s contributions and outlined his vision for the Chamber’s future.
“Elaine has set a high standard with her steadfast leadership and innovative initiatives,” Bower said. “Her efforts have greatly strengthened the Chamber and enriched our community. I am honored to continue the momentum she has established and am committed to delivering on the promise of Chamber membership. My focus will be on fostering growth, enhancing member value, and ensuring our membership reflects the diverse cultures and languages of our vibrant business community.”
