Rodney E. Ellis, 89

April 1, 1935 – May 29, 2024 Rodney Eugene Ellis (Rod) died May 29, 2024at his home in Apache Junction, Arizona at 89 years old. Rodney was the 4th of 10 children born to George and Laura (Akkerman) Ellis on April 1, 1935 in Austin, MN. After high school Rod went to Cedar Rapids, IA where he met his future wife Norma Kouba. Rod enlisted in the Army in 1954 for 3 years, stationed for 1 ½ years in Germany. After being honorably discharged in 1957 Rod and Norma were married on February 9, 1957. They had 4 children: Kevin (Jeannie) Ellis of Maplewood, MN; Kelvin Ellis of Fairbanks, AK; KayLynn Kendall of Apache Junction, AZ; Kameron (Patty) Ellis of Hinckley, Mn
Rod did many things including going to Barber College in Cedar Rapids, IA. He barbered with his father-in-law for 11 years. The family moved back to Minnesota where they bought a farm in Cloverdale, MN. He farmed and worked at Ausmus Furniture Store. He worked and managed Hinckley Liquor Store for 20 plus years. He also had his own business at his farm. The Sand River Trout Farm in Cloverdale, Mn. He loved moose hunting and fishing in Alaska.
Rodney is survived by his wife Norman of 67 years and 4 children and spouses, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sister Carol Brecht and brother Raymond Ellis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura Ellis of Austin. Sister Betty Jane Walrath of Arkansas. Brothers: Duane, Delmar, Russell, Norbert, Paul and Mark.
