Douglas Johnson, 82

Douglas Ernest Johnson, 82, of Rochester, MN passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Edenbrook of Rochester in Rochester, MN.

Doug was born on March 28, 1942, in Hayfield, MN to Ernest and Mathilda (Holze) Johnson. He graduated from Hayfield High School and then attended the University of Minnesota. He served in the US Army in Germany as Military Police from 1964-1966. He married Ruth Norman on December 2, 1967, and together they had two children, Sarah and Rebecca.

Doug farmed for many years and also worked at IBM in Rochester and Wenger Corporation in Owatonna. He served as a board member for PHCA (Pine Haven Christian Assembly Church Camp). He was a founding member of Kasson Church of Christ where he served as elder for several years. He loved reading and learning. He also enjoyed working on cars, mowing the lawn, animals, nature, camping, and hiking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Doug is survived by his children, Sarah Johnson and Becky (Desi) Wren; granddaughter, Kaylee Wren; sister, Karol (Dale) Cluck; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Ruth Johnson; sister, Orinne Dunbar; and brother, Loren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Kasson Church of Christ, 901 8th Ave NW, Kasson, MN, with Pastor Dale DePeel officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at Kasson Church of Christ and on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his service. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
