Architects will present new plans for renovations at Lyle School Monday at the school board meeting.

Smiley, Glotter and Nyberg Architects of Minneapolis were hired by the Lyle School Board in February to design a construction plan for the school. SGN is planning to present two plans to the board. Once the board sees the options, it will set up meeting times for residents to view and discuss them.

In November 2002, Lyle school district voters turned down a $11.1 million school construction proposal. The plan remodeled most of the school, except for the gymnasium and some classrooms. Reshetar said the new plan would probably keep the elementary portion of the school as well.

Residents cited higher property taxes as one of their main reasons for turning it down. Superintendent Jerry Reshetar and school board members still want to proceed with renovations, but discussed ways to make the improvements more affordable.

The school board meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Lyle School.
