Duplicate Bridge is holding its own. Five and a half tables each day were played Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Yet the card game of 500 is still the biggest draw at the Mower County Senior Center here in Austin this week. Duplicate players do hold the participants who travel the furthest — Mason City, Iowa players travel that far every week.
Tuesdays winners were:
First place, Jim Fisher and Dave Ring
Second place, Barb and Orrion Roisin
Third place, Norm Blaser and Paul Hanson
Fourth place, Lorraine Quinlivan and Barb Rofshus
Fifth place, Vandy Newman and Ron Peters
Wednesday winners were:
Mason City team took home the honors with a highest score in the 60s
First place, Bonnie Fritz and Tom Flaherty
Second place, Barb Rofshus and Paul Hanson
Third place, John Leisen and Rick Stroup
Fourth place (tie), Gail Schmidt and Dave Ring and Jim Fisher and Larry Crowe
I am constantly amazed at the activity going on in the center. More card games, wellness programs and exercise both standing and by chair. If one is a senior and you like to be coddled, join the center and meet your friends there. You will be lucky to find a parking space, the food is good and is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
