The Austin volleyball scored a much overdue victory at the Rochester Century Invite on Saturday.

The Packers beat the Panthers 25-22, 20-25, 15-13 in their final match of the day, giving them their first win over the Panthers since head coach Nichelle Guillaume played for the Packers in 2008.

“The most exciting part of the weekend was beating Rochester Century. I believe it was 24 straight losses (before Saturday),” Guillaume said. “Each game and each practice we get better and prove to ourselves what we’re capable of. Today we really worked hard on not getting down on ourselves and focusing on the next point. We did very well defensively and were communicating about what the other team was doing on the other side. One of the best parts of today though was the fact we were moving as a team and having fun, I think the girls really saw what they’re capable of today.”
