The Austin Police Department’s Daniel Osborne was promoted to sergeant Monday night during a City Council meeting.

Osborne fills the position left open by the departure of Sgt. Kim Lenz, who took a job earlier this year with the Red Wing Police Department.

In August of this year, Osborne along with Pastor Dan Mielke, were honored by City Council for their work in safely resolving a standoff in July, which had gone on for nearly 10 hours.
