Relive the early days of Hollywood with the silver screen antics of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd when the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra accompanies three classic comedies with their original 1910s and 20s musical scores and sound effects. It’s Movie Palace Magic for the whole family.
The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra (PRO) is the world’s only year-round, professional ensemble re-creating the syncopated sounds of early musical theater, silent cinema, and vintage dance. Conductor Rick Benjamin will lead the orchestra as they play the original film scores for three silent short films. The Paramount Theatre has not hosted a show like this, and we don’t know the next time Austin will get an opportunity to experience this unique program!
The PRO has received grant funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to bring their programming into historic American theaters across the country.
The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra Silent Film Concert at the Historic Paramount Theatre takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit austinareaarts.org.
