Marian E. Allas, 102

Marian Emily Allas lived an amazing long life of 102 years and 57 days. She passed away very peacefully, holding her rosary after hearing the Lord’s Prayer, on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at home with her family in Lansing Minnesota. It was her desire to give her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomical Bequest Program for research to help others.

Marian was born on August 28, 1922 in Eagle Bend, Minnesota to parents, Anton & Jessie (Christiansen) Cerny. As a child, she moved down to Corning, Minnesota. She met Adam Allas, while working at Hormel and was united in marriage on January 25, 1947 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Austin, Minnesota. Adam was her one and only, and they settled in their home in Lansing, Minnesota, where she had the privilege of living her whole life. To this blessed union were four children: Linda, Loren, Luanne, and Lynn, grandchildren and great-grandchildren:

Loren (Cynthia) Allas of Austin, step-grandchildren & great grandchildren: Christina Moser, Kirsten Stehlik and Ethan Moser, Carmen May, Aubrey Mullenbach;

Luanne (Bill) Blowers of Waterville, MN, Lori (Brian) Mock, Lilian, Lexi, Bobbi (Clinton) Peach, Miya, Jaden, Edward (Kathy) Blowers, Lucas, Paige;

Lynn (Kristine) Allas of Lansing, Andrew, Emily.

Weekends and vacations were spent with Adam and the family, at the cabin on Tetonka Lake. Marian was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, sewing, painting, crafts, and was a wonderful homemaker who also enjoyed time spent with her grandkids. Living over 102 years, she lived through a lot of changes and her last words of wisdom she would say “just Google it” when we were wondering something.

She was a strong devout Catholic, who for most of her life attended Our Lady of Loretto in Brownsdale, and her favorite hymn was “In the Garden”.

Marian was placed on hospice after a hospital stay in August. Her wishes were to go home, which we honored and we were blessed, with the best caregivers; Serena, Lillie, Sue, and family members. She made sure to get the most out of her last few months of her life. During that time, she had her caregivers twisted around her finger and she spent more time out and about, especially at the casino.

We would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care and support and to Dr. Dave Strobel and his staff for their special attention and time. We would also like to thank everyone, most importantly her caregivers, who made it possible for her to live her life to the end at home. Also, a big thanks to SEMCAC for the meals and especially for her meal delivery guy Dave, who gave of his time to just visit with her! Thank you to Sue, a fabulous neighbor who cared for her lawn, and the other angels who assisted her in any way; it may have been “itty” or no BIG DEAL, but to Marian and her family, it is forever appreciated. Thank you to the Legion Riders especially for visiting Marian on her 102nd birthday.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life Gathering to celebrate Marian’s life on Monday, October 28, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Pizza Ranch in Austin Minnesota. Please bring albums and/or photos to celebrate memories and stories, in honor of our witty & sassy mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Marian Emily Allas. Interment will be in Lansing Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Winona Catholic Diocese, Queen of Angels Catholic Church, or Waterville Area Catholic Churches.
