Karen A. Swanson, 84

In the quiet embrace of the evening of October 24th, 2024, the gentle soul of Karen Ann Swanson slipped peacefully from this world in Austin, Minnesota, at the age of 84. Born on August 31st, 1940, to Charles and Lucille Fausch in the close-knit farming community of Morristown, Minnesota, Karen’s life was a tapestry of devotion, warmth, and unwavering grace.

From her earliest days, Karen’s spirit was nurtured by the simple joys of small-town life and the steadfast love of family. She graduated in 1962 from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Home Economics Education, and worked for several years as a teacher, a testament to her belief in the foundational strength of home and community. That same year, on June 16th, she clasped hands with LeRoy Franklin Swanson, embarking on a lifelong journey of partnership and love that would span six decades.

After devoting time to raise her children, Karen later found a new calling in the healing hands of nursing, becoming a registered nurse whose compassion touched countless lives. Her commitment to caring for others was not just a profession but a reflection of her boundless empathy and dedication.

She is survived by her devoted husband LeRoy, whose life has been forever intertwined with hers; her daughter Kerith (Erik St. Louis) and son Kyle (Karen), who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness; her grandchildren Aren, Jacob (Therese Frels), Kjersti, Joel, Siri and Keller; and her great-grandson Ronan. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lucille, as well as by her much loved brother Wesley (Christine).
