Thumbs up for profit sharing. It was another successful year for Hormel, marked traditionally by the company’s annual profit sharing distribution, which was held on Wednesday. It was fun seeing the faces of the employees as they got their yearly boost from a supportive company.
Thumbs up for display. Starting later this coming week, St. Augustine and St. Edward’s Catholic churches will welcome displays from the International Eucharistic Miracles local organizers hope will bolster the faith of people in Austin. But it also has another opportunity in that it further opens the world up to visitors and a chance to learn more about countries outside of our area.
Thumbs up to Joseph Company. Congratulations are in order for the Joseph Company in Austin for receiving the Eagle Award from the Associated Builders & Contractors group for Excellence in Construction. Joseph Company has a long standing tradition of quality and community involvement and is plenty deserving of such a recognition.
Thumbs up for standing against violence. Starting on Nov. 16 and going through Dec. 10, Zonta’s International 16 Days of Violence Against Women invites people to not only think about the harmful circumstances and repercussions of violence against women, but to actively add your voice in the cause to stop violence in its tracks. Driving around town you will see orange flags and signs for these days of introspection and when you see them we hope you take a moment to think about how we can contribute to stopping violence against women.
Thumbs up to model trains. On Dec. 7-8, the Railrunners Model Railroad Club in Grand Meadow is inviting you to an open house at their room at the Grand Meadow Business Center. There is no larger message here, just an invitation to have some fun with a really neat group right here in Mower County.
Thumbs up to being recognized for care. Recently, Good Samaritan Society-Comforcare was one of several homes within the Good Samaritan Society’s network by US News for its short-term rehabilitation. When we entrust our loved one’s care to facilities like Comforcare, these are the types of things that make us feel better about the future of our senior loved ones.
