Kay Lena Barnhart, age 60, of Austin, Minnesota passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society – Comforcare in Austin with family by her side. She was born on April 1, 1964, in Austin to parents, Edwin and Gladys (Nielsen) Swenson. Kay attended school at Southland High School in Adams. She worked various jobs in her life, including Hayfield Window and Doors. Kay enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers and spending time with her sister Elaine. She had a love for Tweety bird and her many dogs she had during her life. Kay will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Kay is survived by her siblings, Gary (Pat) Swenson of Rose Creek, Dean (Carmine) Swenson of Riceville, Iowa, Wayne (Peggy) Swenson of Wykoff, and Dale (Dawn) Swenson of LeRoy; siblings-in-law, Wayne Easter, Gwen Swenson, and Alice Swenson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Gladys Swenson; siblings, Leland Swenson, Daryl Nielsen, Keith Swenson, Alan Swenson, and Elaine Easter; and great niece, Kiley Jones.
A celebration of life for Kay will be held from 2:00-4:00p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota. Her interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin at a later date. Kay’s family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mayo Clinic Hospice for the care she received for the last two years.
