Frederick “Freddy” J. Krofta, 85

Frederick “Freddy” J. Krofta, age 85, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Our House Senior Living in Austin. Freddy was a kind, loving and generous man who loved to be surrounded by family. He was born in Austin on February 23, 1939, to his parents, Anton and Catherine (Dankert) Krofta. Freddy enlisted with the U.S. Marines after graduating high school. He married the love of his life, Patty, on November 25, 1961. Freddy loved to drive, he and Patty often took trips to many states, camping and visiting casinos. Freddy was well known for his work at Shopko and all the miles he drove delivering newspapers for the Austin Daily Herald. Freddy also had a love for NASCAR and baseball. He loved to be outside and enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids play.

Freddy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patty of Austin; daughter, Gail (Mark) Anderson of Adams, son, Mark (Tiffany) Krofta of New Ulm, and daughter, Kellie (Troy) Myers of Austin; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Kari (Josh), Matthew (Kinsey), Brianna (Kyle), Adam (Suzy), Brittany (Derek), Brandi and Michael; eight great-grandchildren, Dawson, Gracie, Hayden, Nolan, Devine, Mason, Waylon and Bonnie; and sisters, Margaret (Benny), Rita and Rose; sister-in-law, Alicia (Gaylord Johnson) of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. Freddy was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Catherine Krofta; sisters, Mary and Diane; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Verne and Pat Maxon; and grandson, Adam Anderson.

A funeral service for Freddy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin with Father Thien Nguyen officiating. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin at a later date.
