On Dec.10, the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) recognized this year’s lineworker program graduates at its annual Technical & Operations Conference in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
Among the graduates honored was Garitt Wytaske of Austin Utilities. Wytaske has completed MMUA’s innovative apprenticeship program with the support of his hometown utility. His preparation combined the academic excellence of the Northwest Lineman College curriculum with extensive hands-on skill development gained through on-the-job training and mentoring from MMUA’s experienced instructors both on-site at his utility and at MMUA’s training center in Marshall, Minnesota.
By finishing the program, Wytaske has attained journeyman lineworker certification, an important career milestone for professional lineworkers.
The program is a registered apprenticeship program with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
