Eugene “Gene” Duane Brunmeier, 82

Eugene “Gene” Brunmeier, age 82, died on January 26, 2025 at Oak Terrace Autumn Lane in North Mankato after a long illness.

Eugene was born on June 10, 1942 in Austin, MN to Eugene and Hazel (Venem) Brunmeier. He graduated from Austin High School in 1960. On July 26, 1969, Gene was united in marriage to Rosemary “Rosie” Ferris. Gene worked at Hormel Foods in Austin and worked in the Microbiology Laboratory prior to moving to Mankato in 1975. He owned and operated the North Front Dairy Queen for several years. Gene then went on to work at Kato Engineering in North Mankato until retiring in 2006. Gene was an avid athlete running five marathons and enjoyed golfing and achieving five Holes-in-One. He enjoyed outside activities including biking, tennis, water skiing and downhill skiing, broomball, and hockey.

Gene is survived by his wife, Rosemary “Rosie” of Mankato; four children, Brett (Robyn) Brunmeier of Asheville, NC, Steve (Sandy) Brunmeier of Holland, MI, Michele (Dave) Kornett of Madison, NJ, and Tim (Kim) Brunmeier of Mankato; seven grandchildren, Conor Brunmeier of Nashville, TN, Amber (Ken) Kindle of Houston, TX, Keegan Brunmeier of Asheville, NC, Alison Brunmeier of Mankato, Zach (Brittany) Brunmeier of Breckenridge, CO, Gavin Brunmeier of Mankato, and Jack Kornett of Madison, NJ; and one great granddaughter, Avery Mae Kindle of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, LaVerne and Donald Brunmeier; and sister, Patricia Hanson.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato. The family will honor Gene with a private family service with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
