LYLE -- A man out looking for a lost dog came across two garbage bags filled with methamphetamine precursors Saturday.
According to a Mower County Sheriff's Office report, the citizen discovered the bags in a roadside ditch along stateline road one-quarter mile west of Lyle.
The discoveries were made near 4 p.m. Saturday and immediately reported to the Lyle Police Department.
According to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, inside the bags were items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, including jars which contained a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Amazi repeated the warning, "Do not open any bag or container in which you suspect methamphetamine drugs or precursors."
In Saturday's discovery, two technicians from the Austin Police Department went to the scene to property inspect the materials and remove them from the bags.
Amazi said law enforcement authorities have "possible suspects" and the investigation is continuing.
