Osier leading the pack

The golf clubs are starting to rattle in the storage closets as the warmer temperatures signal to us all that the bowling season is about a month away from winding down. Maybe if you asked a few of the bowlers they would like it to continue longer as scoring continues to stay strong in all divisions.

The Wednesday night 65ers league racked up five 700s last week for the first time this season. Russ Osier came out ahead of all the ABC bowlers with a

leading 752 series that included a 269 game. Tim Kroneman had the high game of the week with a 279 to go along with his 732 total. Lon Prizler tied

Beth Duenow put together a very strong week for the WIBC division. She tallied a 614 series and a 259 game in the Echo Majors. In addition she rolled a 268 game in the ABC division while bowling in the Metro. Beth was 75 pins over her average in both games. Sue Mielke knocked down two separate 600s for the week. Barb Francis rolled a 181 all-spare game while competing in the Echoettes. Darlene Duholm’s 234 game was also 75 pins over her average out of the Echoettes.

Dennis Olund topped the senior men in both of the leagues last week. He combined together totals of 652 and 642 including a 245 game to top all senior men. Katie Hays came up with a big leading total for the senior ladies. She knocked down a 574 series and 209 game to blow away the competition. In other news from the senior ladies, Verla Thompson rolled 88 pins over her average with a 421.

Most of the Austin bowlers have returned from the ABC Nationals in Knoxville, Tenn. If you are interested, you can look up your favorite local bowler’s scores by going the American Bowling Congress Web site, www.bowl.com, and then input the bowler’s last name and state for their results.
