Help local food shelf

Recently Boy Scouts have distributed large white bags at people's doorsteps. The promotion asks residents to place non-perishable food items in the bags and set them back outside by 10 a.m. Saturday for the scouts to pick up.
The program is a part of Scouting for Food and the participants expect to collect many pounds of food for the Salvation Army Austin Corps food shelf.
Food shelves across the state are reporting a low supply of food, including our local one.
Take some time before Saturday to fill your bag with non-perishable food items. Area residents will be better off for it.
