Glasses will be raised to Habitat for Humanity this weekend.
The Third Annual Zonta Club Wine Tasting fundraiser takes place Friday at the Eagles Club, 107 11th St. NW, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The wine and auction event benefits the Freeborn/Mower County Habitat for Humanity.
“We’ll have a display on hand for people to learn all about Habitat,” said local Zonta president Cheryl Retterath.
Apollo Liquor vendors will attend the tasting to provide samples of wines, with a focus on summer varietals to be paired with a barbeque dinner or a game of golf, according to a Zonta news release.
There will also be a silent auction and prize drawings.
Items featured during the auction include golf packages, and weekend getaways.
“It’s great because the Habitat groundbreaking for their next home takes place the next morning,” Retterath said.
Prior Zonta wine tastings have supported the Seibel Visitation Center and the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Attendees won’t be able to leave the event with bottles of wine, Retterath said, but they’ll be able to arrange to pick up their favorites at Apollo Liquor.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the principle that every person should have a decent, safe, affordable place to live.
The organization builds one home in Freeborn or Mower counties each year.
A $15 ticket donation is suggested. Tickets are available at Apollo, Eagles Club, Bursch Travel, Habitat for Humanity and from Zonta members. Tickets are also available at the door.
Apollo Liquor and the Eagles club are also sponsoring the event.
