Blossom comeback beats Triton

Last week's loss to Alden-Conger appeared to be playing on the minds of the Blooming Prairie girls' basketball team, but the Blossoms shook it off in the second half of Thursday's 52-46 non-conference victory over visiting Triton.

The Blossoms trailed 16-9 after the first quarter and 23-19 at the half, but BPHS outscored its opponent 33-23 in the second half for the win.

"Finally we got on a little streak and got a run going and realized that we could probably beat this team," said BP coach John Worke.

Kari Lueth led the way for Blooming Prairie with 15 points, coming from 7-for-7 field-goal shooting. Angela Noble added 14 points.

"We had nice, consistent play from Angela Noble," Worke said. "And Kari Lueth played a great game."

Twenty-seven turnovers caught up to Triton, who had the early advantage behind Alex Andrews. Andrews scored seven of her game-high 16 points in the first period, staking the Cobras to the seven-point lead.

Blooming Prairie hosts Bethlehem Academy of Faribault tonight at 7:30 p.m.
