Police looking for assault suspects

Austin police are looking for three suspects in the alleged assaults of two people at a southeast Austin residence.

According to an Austin Police Report, a 21-year-old Austin man and two male companions are being sought.

A former girlfriend of the 21-year-old man, April Book, told police investigators he and two male companions came to her residence at 905 Sixth Ave. SE near midnight Sunday.

An argument ensued and the man and his companions started assaulting Book and a new boyfriend, Jonell Dowdell, with miniature baseball bats and sticks, according to police.

After the attack, the three men left the residence and Book and Dowdell called police, according to the police report.

Consumption charges filed

A parent went to a northwest Austin residence late Saturday and discovered a party thrown by juveniles.

The parent was seeking a runaway daughter when she went to 611 Seventh Ave. NW near midnight Saturday.

According to an Austin Police Department report, she discovered "young people acting strangely" and called police.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they were observed by a male juvenile exiting the residence.

The male and another juvenile were taken into custody at the scene, but a third suspect ran from police officers.

The 20-year-old man was captured after a brief foot chase and taken into custody.

The two juveniles who remained at the residence were charged with minor consumption violations.

The 20-year-old man faces fourth degree assaulting a police officer, obstructing legal process and minor consumption charges, according to the police report.

Mailboxes vandalized

Six mailboxes were damaged, according to rural Austin residents.

The vandalism occurred overnight Jan. 19.

The mailboxes were located along 27th Street NW, according to reports made to the Mower County Sheriff's Office.
