Southland held host Grand Meadow to 10 points or fewer in all four quarters in picking up a non-conference road win Monday night, 81-29.
Rebels center Tim Schneider chalked up a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while forward Dan Bakker went for 11 points and 11 boards. Greg Retterath chipped in 14 points as Southland (7-5, 5-2) limited the Superlarks' scoring every step of the way.
"Defensively I thought we were very good," said Southland coach Greg Storey. "(Adam) Nagele did a great job on (Kyle) Breitbarth in holding him to only two free-throws for the whole game."
Southland's lead started meager with a 9-4 first-quarter advantage, but the Rebels went inside to pour it on throughout the remainder. The Rebels led 25-10 at the halftime break and 44-19 after three periods.
Southland scored 37 points to Grand Meadow's 10 in the final eight minutes despite putting its starters on the bench.
"Tim and Dan were really dominant through the first three quarters," said Coach Storey. "They scored 32 points and got 21 rebounds between the two of them.
"Defensively we did a nice job tonight, and those two guys dominated the inside."
Southland shot 48 percent from the field and hit eight three-pointers along the way. The Rebels also went 21-27 from the free-throw line and had a 38-17 rebounding advantage.
Grand Meadow dropped to 4-6 overall with its second consecutive home game slated for tonight at 7:30 p.m. against Southeast Conference foe Alden-Conger.
Southland meets Caledonia for the second time this season, going on the road for the Three Rivers Conference rematch. The Rebels won 49-33 in the season-opener for both teams in Adams back on Dec. 6.
