David Michael Borgesen, 66

Wasilla resident David Michael Borgesen, 66, passed away unexpectedly and entered into his eternal rest in the loving embrace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ June 17, 2011, in Tucson, Ariz.

Funeral services for David were held at Fairview Loop Baptist Church in Wasilla, Alaska, with Graveside services and Full Military honors at Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage, Alaska.

David was born March 28, 1945, in Burlington, Iowa, son of Byron and Jane Arlene (Moore) Borgesen.

David served in the Navy during the Vietnam War as a quatermaster and moved to Alaska in 1970 and lived in Ketchikan, Petersburg and also lived in Wasilla. He worked for the Petersburg Hatchery and Mitkof Lumber. He also worked as a commercial fisherman and the Forest Service as a mechanic.

David served many years as a deacon in First Baptist Church in Petersburg and also Grandview in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a true Alaskan hunter who enjoyed Christian fellowship with his many friends and family who served his Savior always. He faithfully served the Lord as a Gideon, sharing God’s word with the world.

David’s family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted friend who would try to meet the needs of others around him. His unique and friendly personality will be greatly missed; his generous and kind spirit will go forward and live on in the lives of those he touched.

David is survived by his daughters, Amy (Kevin) Cook of Interlochen, Mich., Laurel (Justin) Toso of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren, Shane Cook of Interlochen, Aaron Toso of Wasilla, Alaska and Evelyn Cook of Interlochen; brother, John Borgesen of Sturgis, Mich. and sister, Mary Jane Murrill of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Arlene Borgesen and his wife, Patricia. The family was cared for by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory Wasilla, Alaska.
