ISSUE: The St. Mark’s Lutheran Home Family Council points to St. Mark’s low ranking on a federal report card, its decline since a management company, Ecumen, took over, and the administration’s unwillingness to listen.

ACTION: The family council called a meeting with the facility’s board of directors to discuss quality of care, which took place Wednesday night.

RESPONSE: St. Mark’s board of directors President Marty Helle says the facility is listening to all concerns, and when deficiencies are found, they are corrected immediately. He also argued that St. Mark’s has improved since Ecumen took over, and resistance to the management company also an issue.
