Committee approves stop sign placement

The Public Works committee approved two traffic requests at a Thursday meeting.

Woodson School will have a new school speed limit. All four others elementary schools, Banfield, Neveln, Southgate and Sumner, have previously received the reduced speed limit around the school.

A new stop sign was approved to be located on 10th Avenue and 10th Street SW.

Between 1999 and Sept. 6, 2002 two accidents have occurred at that location.

Jon Erichson, director of public works, reported the status of the Central Garage. Erichson met with Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates to go over preliminary plans of the facility.

The proposed schedule for the project indicates that it will likely start this month. Design development plans will be completed by February and most of the construction will be complete a year from now. The final completion of the project is scheduled for Spring 2004.

A progress meeting has been scheduled for Jan. 6 or 13, 2003 to review progress of worksheets and equipment inventory.

A draft of the Storm Water Utility District showed a breakdown of rates that residential homes, apartments, mobile homes and commercial buildings would pay, depending on the size of the lot. The committee will have an informational meeting in January.
