Pearl T. Counts, 88

Pearl T. Counts, 88, of Solomons, Md., and formerly of Austin, died June 28, 2011, after struggling with pneumonia.

Pearl was born June 28, 1923, in Austin, to Henry and Clara (Easton) Thompson. On March 11, 1945, she married Horace “Dick” Counts. She worked for the IRS for 33 years as an administrative assistant.

Pearl was an avid walker, golfer and bowler. Even at the age of 76, she won highest game awards for two consecutive years in her bowling league and was invited to participate int eh state championship. She was also a talented seamstress.

She is survived by her son, Steven L. Counts of Collierville, Tenn.; daughters, Kathleen M. Dixon of Mechanicsville, Md and Karen E. Evans of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Muriel Waton; brother, Marvin Thompson; six grandchildren, Tage Counts (Diana), Nicole Counts Angle (Peter), Michael Dixon (Coleman), Susan Dixon, Lynne Dixon and Jason de Nobel; five great-grandchildren, Chase Counts, Kacey Counts, William Dixon-Lavergne, Natalie Dixon and Caroline Dixon.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick; brother, Harmon Thompson; sisters, Eleanor Kokowski and Coral Swank.

A celebration of Pearl’s life will be Saturday, July 2, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Mechanicsville, Md., With Rev. Ann Strickler officiating. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery.
