Ruth McKenzie

Ruthie was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Virginia, Minn., to Duncan and Ethel (Wood) McKenzie. She married Russell McKenzie in November 1947; they spent most of their married life in Virginia. They lived in Taconite Harbor on Lake Superior’s North Shore for several years where Ruthie was active in the garden club and women’s Bible studies. In 1996, they moved to Austin, Minn., to be near Donnarae. Ruthie liked to garden and dig in the dirt. She had a special love for cats and dogs. At Christmas, she made cut-out butter cookies and meticulously decorated them. They were beautiful and delicious; family members always looked forward to these special cookies.

Ruthie cared very much for her Lord and spent time reading her Bible and studying God’s word. Her life is a testimony to Jesus’ mercy and grace.
