Norbert J. Schneider, 80
Norbert J. Schneider, 80, of Austin, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Wilmont, to Nicolas and Rose (Hanson) Schneider.
On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Hazel Hansen in Minneapolis.
Norbert enjoyed watching all types of sports, especially Nascar Auto Racing and bowling.
Survivors include wife, Hazel Schneider, Austin; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Debra Schneider, St. Paul; John and Patti Schneider, St. Paul; David and Jean Schneider, Oakdale; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Frank Sprandel, St. Paul; Kathy Allbee, St. Paul; Debra Schneider, St. Paul; Mary Warner, Aurora, Colo.; Dolores and Merlyn Jones, St. Paul; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph Schneider, Green Valley, Ariz.; Andrew and Evelyn Schneider, Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Belle Reynold, Sioux Falls, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Schneider; son-in-law, Chuck Warner; brothers, Inne, Bill, Gilbert and Gordon Schneider; sisters, Melinda Hebig, Claire Hanson, Mary Seltenrich, Viola Johnston and Collette Gust.
Memorial Gathering: 1:30 to 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Austin's Twin Towers, 200 First Avenue NE, with a memorial from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Avis G. Moline, 84
Avis G. Moline, 84, of Mankato, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include daughter, Constance (Dale) Fleming, Austin; stepson, Kevin (Cindy) Moline, Fenton, Mo.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands.
Visitation: One hour before services at the church on Thursday.
Service: 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Karl Voelker S.J. officiating.
Interment: Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato.
Funeral Home: Mankato Mortuary, Mankato.
Winifred Leonard
Winifred Leonard, of Rancho Bernardo, Calif., formerly of Austin, died Thursday, Nov. 14.
In the 1930s, she joined the Austin High School faculty and taught biology. She joined the Austin Junior College faculty when it was founded and taught biology. She also became the Dean of Women.
In 1966, she became Dean of Students at the Austin Community College and held the position until she retired in 1975.
Danny Ray Davis, 44
Danny Ray Davis, 44, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in an auto accident west of Brownsdale.
He was born April 4, 1958, to Laurel William and Verna May (Hanners) Davis, in Austin.
Danny was a farmer and an employee at Hormel Foods in Austin. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale. He enjoyed chess and gardening.
Survivors include sisters, Julie Davis, Des Moines, Iowa; Lisa (Randal) Young, Ankeny, Iowa; niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant sisters.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at the funeral home and Friday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 11:30 a.m., Friday, at the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale with Rev. Jerry Harris officiating.
Interment: Waltham Township Cemetery, rural Waltham.

Verna May Davis, 74
Verna May Davis, 74, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in an auto accident west of Brownsdale.
She was born Jan. 10, 1928, to Wilbur and Iva (Sackett) Hanners, in Dodge County.
On Sept. 10, 1952, she married Laurel William Davis in Brownsdale. Laurel died Jan. 10, 1996.
Verna was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale. She also enjoyed reading and embroidery work.
Survivors include daughters, Julie Davis, Des Moines, Iowa; Lisa (Randal) Young, Ankeny, Iowa; two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three infant daughters; brother, Harvey Hanners; and sister, Faye Moser.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at the funeral home and Friday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 11:30 a.m., Friday, at the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale with Rev. Jerry Harris officiating.
Interment: Waltham Township Cemetery, rural Waltham.

Hedwig A. Ulwelling, 93
Hedwig Anna Ulwelling, 93, of Adams, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Adams Health Care Center, Adams.
She was born Oct. 25, 1909, to Nicholas and Gertrude (Simon) Ulwelling in rural Johnsburg.
She attended school at St. John's in Johnsburg. She farmed on the family farm until 1951, was a waitress at Pine Room in Adams until the late 1950s, then moved to Rochester to work as a housekeeper at St. Mary's until her retirement. She moved to Adams Health Care Center in 1997.
She was a member of Legion of Mary, St. Raphael's Guild, St. John's Church and ladies guild and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include sisters, Helen Reinartz, Austin; Odelia Klapperich, Anoka.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Aloysius.
Visitation: One hour before the service Monday at the church.
Service: 1 p.m. memorial service, Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at St. John's Church in Johnsburg with the Rev. Greg Leif officiating.
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, Johnsburg.
