Senior Center: planning ahead
Published 5:10 pm Sunday, July 3, 2011
During our lives, we plan for many situations: education, weddings, having a family, vacations and retirement.
No doubt about it, planning ahead for important events is smart. Besides, it just feels good knowing the details are taken care of in advance.
No one likes to think about death, let alone plan for it. In many families, discussing one’s mortality is an extremely uncomfortable topic. By pre-planning your funeral, you relieve your family of having to make important financial decisions during a period of great stress and grief.
With pre-planning, families find comfort in knowing that the funeral reflects what their loved one wanted. Understanding your rights, your options, what decisions have to be made, and how your decisions may affect those you leave behind is your first step. It also gives your family peace of mind to not have to make important decisions at a stressful time.
We applaud your decision to face this difficult issue and encourage you to come to the senior center Wednesday at 1 p.m. to hear Mary Kittelson guide you through the options. It is her hope that this seminar will help you make informed decisions that are best for you and your family so that at the time of loss, those left behind are able to quickly transition from grief to remembrance. Please call 433-2370 ext. 0 for the front desk to sign up. Walk-ins are welcome.
