Elizabeth "Betty" Dixon, 84
Elizabeth K. "Betty" Dixon, 84, of Austin, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie.
She was born March 29, 1918 in Austin to William H. and Anna J. (Roulston) Boyd.
On June 27, 1937 she married Willard A. "Bill" Dixon at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.
Betty worked at Hormel Foods for a short time, was a maid at the Holiday Inn in Austin and farmed with Bill for 33 years by Blooming Prairie.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Austin.
She liked to sew, crochet afghans and make things with beads. She was a great baker and cook.
Survivors include son James Dixon, Minneapolis; daughters Judith (Lawrence Frank) Wencl, Blooming Prairie, Janice (Rev. Michael Wayne) Tucker, Idyllwild, Calif.; daughter-in-law Rosalie Dixon, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother James (Cratice) Boyd, Austin; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Margaret and Esther, grandson Howard Stevens Jr.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Service: 11:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Toshak officiating.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Elma Lydia Kesty, 86
Elma Lydia Kesty, 86, of Austin, Minnesota died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.
She was born March 9, 1916 in Thomson Township, near Duluth the daughter of Niilo and Dela (Polo) Polo.
She received her education in a country school in Thomson Township.
In 1967, she married Einor Kesty in Cromwell.
They made their home in Cloquet before his death.
After his death, Elma moved to Clear Lake, Iowa to live.
She moved to Austin in 1981, living most of the following years in the Twin Towers.
Survivors include sisters Sophie Parenteau, Carlton, Esther Aho, Cloquet, Jenny Allen, Hermiston, Ore., Arlene Fogle, Tacoma, Wash.; nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, and four brothers, Walter, Carl, Arthur and Johnny Polo preceded her in death.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Mannel officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.

Roger Forest Hunt, 76
Roger Forest Hunt, 76 of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Austin, died Nov. 2, 2002, at Longmont United Hospital
He was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Austin and moved to Davenport, Iowa, as a teenager. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Davenport Dec. 29, 1945. He married Betty Jean Weltz in Rock Island, Ill. He was a sales representative for Gate City Steel for more than 30 years and retired in 1986.
He was involved with the Optimists Club, Junior Achievement and 4-H. He was a member of the Mississippi Valley Fair Board and raised and showed Arabian horses. He and his wife lived in Tucson, Ariz., from 1989 until moving to Longmont on Oct. 31, 2002.
Hunt enjoyed traveling and golf.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeff of Phoenix and Kevin (Kris) of Longmont; a daughter Susie (Doug) Geiger of St. Germaine, Wis., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
