Suspect admits stealing from his parents

A suspect arrested for stealing several items from his parents and carrying drugs pleaded guilty to two of three charges Thursday in Mower County Court.

Sean Higbee, 30, of Austin, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree drug possession and theft, both felonies. A felony charge for storing meth in the presence of a child was dismissed.

The parents reported on Jan. 28 that their 30-year-old, live-in son stole several high-dollar items from them. Police saw Higbee walking away from the home in the afternoon and arrested him. Higbee reportedly stole his parents’ 42-inch television, two electric guitars, several .22-caliber rifles, pellet guns and checks. The value of the items is more than $1,000 according to the police report.

Before police arrested Higbee, they also saw him put something in his mouth. Officers later found a pill bottle, a syringe containing meth, unused needles, cutting tools and a marijuana pipe, according to the police report.

Higbee’s sentencing is set for May 17.
