Robbery suspect changes plea to guilty
A 19-year-old charged in an alleged armed robbery in Austin on Nov. 17 now says he’s guilty.
Willister Davenport Jr., of Austin, changed his plea to guilty Monday in Mower County Court on a charge of first-degree aggravated robbery.
Davenport and a 17-year-old were arrested for allegedly robbing other teenagers at gunpoint for a pound of marijuana. According to the court complaint, a woman involved in the case gave the marijuana back to the victim. According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin police did not recover any marijuana after the incident.
The court complaint stated police found a weapon — a .22 caliber pistol — after a person in the case showed them where it was tossed in the Cedar River.
Davenport’s sentencing is set for June 6.
