Packers run well at Hayfield cross country invite

HAYFIELD — The Austin boys and girls cross country teams had some success at the 14-team Hayfield Invite Thursday.

Austin freshman Madison Overby took first in the girls race and Austin’s Mason Wollersheim took second in the boys race, while Austin’s Andrew Baker was four seconds behind him in third.

“It was an outstanding performance by Mason and Andrew,” Austin head coach Tony Einertson said. “They’re coming along and getting used to running towards the front.”

Pacelli’s Sarah Kahle took 12th for the Shamrocks and Pacelli’s boys took ninth as a team.

Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander’s McKenzie Kirtz finished in fifth place in just her second career cross country meet.

The Packer boys took fourth as a team and the Austin girls took fourth.

The Blooming Prairie boys took eighth and the BP girls took ninth, while the Hayfield boys took fifth and the Hayfield girls took 11th.
