Packers will have their hands full against No. 3 Owatonna Friday

With just two games left in the regular season, the Austin football team will have its hands full when Owatonna comes to Art Hass Stadium for Austin’s last home game of the regular season this Friday at 7 p.m.

The Huskies (6-0 overall, 5-0 Big Nine) are ranked No. 3 in Class ‘AAAAA’ and they’re outscoring their opponents 43.3-17.8 points per game this season.

Owatonna beat Winona 51-33 last week as Austin (2-4 overall, 2-3 Big Nine) is coming off a 40-26 loss to Rochester Century.

“We’re gonna go out there and give them our best effort,” Austin head coach Brett Vesel said. “We’ll try to hit them where they’re weak.”

The Packers will close out the regular season next Wednesday in Albert Lea so the team is hoping for a solid effort to give it some momentum.

“We want to continue to improve and it’s important to play well,” Vesel said. “It’s getting down to crunch time.”

Owatonna still has its power rushing game that it is known for, but the Huskies can also air it out a little as well.

“They running some more sets to make them a better team,” Vesel said.
