Packer girls top Winona 67-57
The Packers girls basketball team avenged an earlier loss to Winona when they beat the Winhawks (7-15 overall, 7-10 Big Nine) 67-57 in Ove Berven Gym Tuesday.
The Packers (10-14 overall, 7-10 Big Nine) had a season-low 11 turnovers and they hit six-of-nine three-pointers in the win.
“It was a great team win and it was big to get a little confidence going into the section tournament next week,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said.
Babaye Oja had 24 points, Steph Justice had 19 and Jenna Svoboda added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Austin.
Peterson, who is in his last season with the Packers, was honored after the game by the Full Court Press Club.
“I’m thankful for them putting that together,” Peterson said.
Winona had beaten Austin 65-53 Jan. 17.
